Cookie Policy

1. What this policy covers

This Cookies Policy explains how Vero ("Vero," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on verostocks.com (the "Service").

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal information.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve functionality, and to provide information to site operators.

Similar technologies we also use include:

  • Local storage and session storage — browser-based storage used to remember preferences and application state, functionally similar to cookies but with different technical behaviour. This is where most of what Vero stores actually lives.
  • Pixels and tags — small pieces of code used to measure activity.

Throughout this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies collectively.

First-party cookies are set by Vero directly. Third-party cookies are set by external services we use. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent ones remain for a set period or until you delete them.

3. How we use cookies

3.1 Strictly necessary

These are required for the Service to function. Without them, core features — including logging in and staying logged in — will not work. You can block them in your browser settings, but doing so will break the Service.

  • Authentication session — keeps you signed in. Stored in browser local storage by our authentication provider, not as a cookie. Persists until you sign out or the session expires.
  • Scroll and navigation state — session storage used by the application router to restore your place when you navigate back. Cleared when you close the tab.

3.2 Functional

These remember your preferences. Disabling them means the Service will still work, but will forget your choices. All are first-party browser local storage, and all persist until you clear them.

  • Workspace and board layout — your dashboard and watchlist arrangement.
  • Onboarding state — whether you have completed setup, so you are not asked again.
  • Visit counters and dismissed prompts — so one-time hints stay dismissed.
  • Last used email — pre-fills the sign-in form on your own device.

3.3 Analytics

These help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. The data is used in aggregate. These are the only actual cookies Vero sets.

  • Google Analytics — sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id> to distinguish unique users and measure usage. Persistent, typically up to two years.

3.4 What we do NOT use

We do not use cookies for:

  • Advertising or ad targeting
  • Selling data to third parties
  • Cross-site tracking for marketing purposes
  • Building advertising profiles

4. Your choices

4.1 Browser controls

Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies and site storage:

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Safari — Settings → Privacy
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Note: blocking all cookies and site storage will prevent you from logging in and using the Service, because the authentication session is stored in your browser.

4.2 Analytics opt-out

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

4.3 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is currently no industry-standard response to these signals, and we do not currently respond to them.

5. Third-party cookies

Some storage is set by third parties whose services we use. We do not control it, and its use is governed by each provider's own privacy policy. The third parties that may set cookies or similar storage when you use the Service are:

  • Authentication provider — session management (local storage)
  • Payment processor — fraud prevention and checkout, only on pages where you subscribe
  • Google Analytics — usage measurement
  • Hosting provider — routing and performance

We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy for detail on their practices.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or legal requirements. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date, and where appropriate, by notifying you through the Service.

We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
